The Orbit initiative serves as the foundation for UT Dallas’ newest Quality Enhancement Plan New Transfer Student Success. This multi-year projects aims to help students overcome transfer-related challenges, connect with likeminded peers and campus supports, adjust to campus norms and expectations, and work toward successful degree completion.
Modeled after UT Dallas’ highly successful Freshman Mentor Program, the Transfer Mentor Program pairs new transfer students with highly trained and knowledgeable peer mentors for impactful one-on-one mentoring opportunities. Transfer Mentors know what it’s like to transfer to UT Dallas from both community colleges and four-year institutions, and they’re able to provide new transfer students with advice and suggestions about all aspects of the transfer student experience.
To provide ongoing support for new transfer students, UT Dallas’ is expanding its “Transfer Talks” workshops, encouraging students to connect with each other, study important topics of interest, and learn about involvement opportunities, student success programs, and career development initiatives across campus.
