Freshman Students

The first few months at UT Dallas can often be challenging for first-year students who are learning how to navigate campus, connect with peers and do well in college classrooms. Orbit is intended to introduce new Comets to high-impact educational opportunities while enhancing new student courses and other related activities.

Freshman Seminar

These classes introduce first-year students to important university resources and connect them with a wide range of academic supports, programs, and extracurricular experiences. Freshman seminars are supported by First-Year Leaders who assist course instructors and mentor new students.

Freshman Mentor Program

This innovative program pairs hundreds of first-year students with individual peer mentors, providing one-one-one mentoring experiences that help new Comets learn about the university, adjust to college life, and share their thoughts and concerns with a supportive peer.
